Land of Lincoln - Day 2 - Tomb and Monument

The last thing we did while in Springfield was visit the cemetery where Lincoln and most of his family are buried.   The photos below are all from this site.

Abraham Lincoln was a great man.  He faced adversity throughout his life.  His mother died when he was 9 years old.  He faced many other disappointments throughout his life.  But he persevered and became one of the greatest Presidents of the United States.  He faced much opposition during his run for the Presidency and especially during his Presidency.  At the Lincoln Library Museum they displayed many press articles (and negative cartoon depictions) about President Lincoln.  The Press was ruthless on him.  He maintained his strong belief that the United States should remain united and that all people should be free.

The following photos are from within the tomb where there are two hallways leading to the marble monument.
